From comments on the front page, we'll be able to order some day after Monday, early morning. I assume early morning means GMT.

Re: There's a little update from Eben on the front page...
I checked the home page earlier this afternoon - no change - so I took the dogs out for a nice walk; terrorise the ducks on the pond, chase the pigeons, bark at the seagulls and try to catch the squirrels. We had lots of fun!
Then I got back and checked again to see that Eben had posted a nice little status teaser, advising the purchase of alarm clocks for next week...
I think this is FATE trying to tell me something!

Your humour is not lost on some of us! May I remind you that wheel arrangements are on the horizon.

My guess is there could have been a translation mistake, and the factory made Raspberry Scones instead of Pi s. (Oopsie!)
Since the world isn't flat, like it was many years ago, some people will need to substitute the alarm clock with a coffee pot and a few Red Bull.

But.. but.. but ... are there any alarm clocks that run Linux ? Are they fully open source, ethically manufactured, recyclable, and @$25 tops ?

UK, early Monday morning. Great.
Knowing my luck I'll be on the train.

Of course there are, but you'll have to wait until at least Tuesday to order one....

Thank you for the update Eben & Liz, it's lowered my heart rate by about 10%
Speculation of course, but If I was looking down the barrel of tens of thousands of eager browsers, I'd set the release time to be some God-awful time in the middle of the night in order to ease the server load. Wanting a Raspi is one thing, but being ready at your F5 key at 4:30 in the morning for one is another matter

Actually.....
I'm just dreading that some pollock will do a Witney on us and tell the slashdot crowd when the email goes out.
Oh well, I'm going to get outdoors tomorrow. Go for a really long walk, do some gardening, that sort of thing. Then on Monday its back to nervously watching the email, see if the front page goes static, that sort of thing.....

I have to get up early on weekdays as it is - but I *am* about 2 hours in advance of many of you. This probably gives me a minor advantage.
What's this about wheel arrangements though? That could mean Pacific, Atlantic *or* Mountain! :D

I will be on the train. And then screaming across the smoke to get a train out the other side. I hope I can get a decent mobile broadband connection from the sleeper..
Fortunately I will be at an organisation with massive bandwidth and availability just a little south of Cambridge, but can guarantee that most of that institute will be hitting refresh every few minutes.

Re: There's a little update from Eben on the front page...
I actually just dreamed I ordered one. I'm sick at home with a fever so I sleep a lot. It started with a cryptic hint by someone on the forum. So I went and clicked on the shop. There it was. I clicked on it, eager to order. But I had to read lots of stuff first. Then you guys made me play a game and watch an episode of a new American TV Series called 'Sam Dane' (just to slow you down, you know). Then I had to rip a coupon out (on a website!) to select the accessory pack I wanted. The one I took was marked 'essential for first time buyers' and cost 12.50 extra.
Then I woke up and of course, first thing I did was click on the Shop link. No dice.
This thing's getting out of hand...

This is the sort of thing I was worried about - after several days of severe sleep deprivation I would hallucinate that I bought one and give up just before the crucial moment!
Now that we're getting advanced notice I should be able to limit my sleep deprivation to a single 24-hour stint.
BTW - who do I speak to about getting a text message rather than an email?

Re: There's a little update from Eben on the front page...
Is the ordering website just going to go down under load as closer to the release time everyone interested in buying will be reloading the main the page waiting for the buy button?

Re: There's a little update from Eben on the front page...
Sadly won't be getting money till next week at the soonist. Just hoping the 'one per household' restriction will mean there'll be a couple at the bottom of the box for me to order by that time.
As for need of alarm clock. I keep odd hours. It's a non-issue.
3 + 10 = 13
Can we gets something other than addition just to mix things up?

I hate to be pesimitic here, but I see this first batch selling out in hours, if not minutes. Time to visit your local loan shark?

I like it. As a lot of posters have been hinting, just switch to binary?
