Hello I'm from Germany and I really like your project and I think you are doing really great work, especially for the developing countries etc...
One question: How will the audio output work; will the device be able to give sound? Do we have to get an external soundcard to make it work? Thank you!

According to the Wiki, it has a 3.5mm jack.

It does - all the multimedia hardware is onboard so you won't need a sound card.

what about audio input to the system? Can the board digitise an analogue audio signal? Otherwise could one of the digital ports be used for this if they were interfaced to an ADC circuit? Cheers!

Also it would be great if it could send audio over its HDMI to save an extra cable.

It does send audio through the HDMI cable :) Current specs say the HDMI port is HDMI 1.3a and supports h.264 with level 4.1 playback

Strictly speaking, HDMI doesn't support H264 - the GPU converts the H264 bitstream into uncompressed image data and this is what travels over the HDMI port (composited with any other image data the GPU is producing like 2D and 3D imagery). In addition, the HDMI supports digital audio, and as I understand it there is a separate analog jackplug. I'll hopefully find out at the end of the week!

Hmm, I have a question about audio, too...

Will the 3.5mm jack also work as a Mic/Line input? Or will USB be the preferred method of audio input to the RasPi?

Got it, thanks Liz (btw, and sorry for the MAJOR OT, that's a great picture).

For a moment I read "HDMI" instead of USB. I was like "WTH, I didn't know audio could go both ways over HDMI... And how exactly does one go about getting an adapter?" Hehe... I'm tired today, I haven't been sleeping too well, so sometimes I see stuff wrong... :P

Cheers.
