And lots of nice inkscape tutorials on Youtube, one series here
feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PLB384884C4A98E1D6
the audio is a bit er, variable though, so I downloaded them and fixed them using Freemake Video converter to convert to the flv to avi then Avidemux to split off the audio, then finally Audacity to level out the audio and remove the hum from later on in the series.

I felt that a raspberry was too literal so I made it fairly abstract, instead focusing on the "Pi" element. (circles, arcs, etc)

Abstraction allows users to make of it whatever it means to them. (IMO)

Font is Tex Gyre Adventor found here:

I believe the font license allows for free use without penalties or royalties. IANAL though - perhaps some reading through it will enlighten someone else better than I at interpreting legalese.

You will also notice that the r and the tail of ? are the same, just inverted. The ratios are fairly simple too. They're not golden but they're simple :)

I like that one. It has a Zen feel to it.

I have submitted three more concepts in the Logo Contest.
The first two are refinements to my first logo.
I felt it was too literal and the detail was lost when I shrunk it down to the size that would be used on a product.
The third is a refinement of someone elses idea I saw on this forum.
I wanted to get away from a drawing of a Raspberry and do something that merely suggested a fruit.
I like #4 the best.

Logo 5 - The outline font is thicker to read at small sizes.
I can only critique my own work after I print it out.
I waste so much paper, but I need to stop wasting your time with unfinished work.

Here is my #5 logo on a product.
I am imagining a tart pie tin with a piece of raspberry colored plexiglass on top.

P.S. I just noticed that in addition to looking like the top of a raspberry.
The logo also looks like a pie that has been sliced up.
I love when I see things in my art that I never intended.

I just realized that there is antialiasing on lines that shouldn't need it in my submission (horizontal lines! Ack!). If selected I will redo such that antialiasing is not needed. (clean lines!)

No, I don't want to attack (hurt) kids.
Or even want to attract (seduce) them.

Any kind of subject can be drawn as funny as you want.
A bear is a dangerous animal, but can be drawn like a sweet toy.

Just a quick reminder.

If you haven't already sent in your logo competition entry you only have until next friday to send it in.

The contest judges still have plenty of space on their harddisks/inbox that needs filling so get designing.

Hi, I hope you will enjoy this :)

swanky

This is great out of the box thinking!
It definitely reads as a raspberry.

It reminds me of the Blackberry Logo a little bit.

Did Pacman or any other retro game have a raspberry in it?

Here's my proposition

3 différent with a variation on the second. The last one remind me of an existing logo but can't find which.

PS: change my entry, I had forgotten the "Pi" word in the name

Yes. If you want to go that way, search for a sprite rip of Pacman etc.and then just copy the aforementioned fruit from it into your graphics program.

So yeah, I spent some time on producing a logo only to find out that actually using Flash for creating vector art instead of scripting is bad. Now I'm sitting here with a logo and no option to export to anything useful, like .eps or .ai.

Anyhow, here it is:

I started out making it as only lines, but ended up filling it as it's way too prone for JPG artefacts otherwise. (Original: )
There are perhaps too many colours, but that could be reduced without too much hassle.

It's based on the Barbury crop circle, depicting Pi in an unusual fashion.

I'm going to make a last attempt in using a friends graphical design software to export this to a useful format, but if I'm unsuccessful I'll just link to the raw vector file and anyone who feel like it can fix it up and submit it.

Edit: I see now I managed to mess up slightly on the colours, so I'll have to fix that anyway.

I kind of like that but i don't think it'll translate to small and 1bit colour that well, at least not without a bit of judicious colour twiddling. but definaly (one of these days i'll learn how to spell that word) one of my favourites so far. up in the top 10

Cheers! :)

I agree that it might be difficult to reduce it to monochrome, but it could be done by either using the clean lines without fill, or by having small spaces between each "slice".

I was unsuccessful in exporting it to any reasonable format, but if anyone's willing I could supply it in high resolution PNG for tracing it in Illustrator (I can't use that program well enough, nor do I have a license for it), or supplying the raw .fla file. When I exported it to .fxg, the only vector option in Flash CS5, the curves were corrupted and completely jumbled.
I'll just hand it all over to anyone interested in trying to fix it up. I'll buy a number of boards anyway, so it's not important for me to win one. :)
