Purchased on a NZ auction site, had been looking at loads and bought one thinking it was another.
All set to deploy a 512MB Pi onto a mount I'd made, and it had no mount holes - uh-oh. Boot it up, 256MB - uh-oh.
I must have had Pi blindness, because I went back and checked, and found the Pi was not advertised as 512MB or latest rev.
Nevermind, I have a few projects in mind that it will be fine for (PBX, XBMC etc).

Re: Bought the wrong Pi ugh
At least its a good working unit (brand new unused in the Element 14 bag+box).
Overpaid slightly ($7 or 8 more than I would have considered paying for a 256MB).
I put it down to Pi-fever lol.

Hi. I am in Auckland and buy my PI's from element 14. You can always order the model you want. I have brought several from them and always get fast service. I ordered one via the web on Wednesday and got it yesterday. The cost is $46 + gst etc. For accessories I have brought off Trademe because they can be cheaper.

Hi Brent, I had tried to buy from Element14 before but couldnt find the right web link. Can you post here please, as that price is cheaper than they sell them on TM.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Sorry for not replying earlier. I had not realised Element14 won't sell to consumers direct. I buy other electronic parts from them.

No worries. I thought that might be the case.

Hi There
I'm in NZ and bought a RPi 512MB, case, keyboard direct from Element14 just before Christmas. Their website is confusing, however, but after communicating with them they just said click on the 'Business' tab (rather than the 'Consumer' tab), put in your details and order what you need. I purchased as an individual using my home address. Their delivery was prompt & efficient, shipping from NSW. $48 + GST for one RPi, $11.30 + GST for the case.
I am also a teacher who wants to trial the RPi before launching it in school but nonetheless the RPi I bought is my own property. Give it a try!
