Re: Early Adopters?

Thu Aug 04, 2011 6:17 pm

I think that us (followers) who have been with this for a while, as in now and before when it was just a basic white background black text website ;D we should (If we order within a certain time frame, a week, month, whatever) Should get something special since we are early adopters. Weather it be a case, a necklace, anything. It could even be a paper that says early adopter of Raspberry Pi, I just think it would be cool to have something like that so I can brag to my friends once Raspberry Pi gets extremely big (which I foresee).

Thanks,

-Zach

I'll be putting an e-store up on this site when we're ready to go. You won't be able to choose your serial numbers, I'm afraid, but we'll be letting everyone on the mailing list know in advance when we'll be ready to ship, so you'll just have to be speedy with your mouse-wielding hand to get a low number!

i believe that the current acceptable currency for bribes is hobnobs. both the plain and chocolate are acceptable.

Even just a sticker of the newly designed logo would be a nice extra...

Any possibility of having a few select individuals have early access to some beta units so your ecosystem of software and gadgets is already going when you hit the ground with the store?

With 500 forum members, it would be kinda cool if the first 500 were reserved for them, allocated according to forum ID. Annoyingly, that would mean I would only get number 146.

well, I was board back towards the beginning and looked through the users profiles of the low number user ids and several of them I think were either automatically created with the forum or set up as test accounts, so you could be as low as 140! ;)

I have one Alpha board with non-working DRAM (Probably needs re-flowing the PoP.)
I'll wait a few years and then put it on eBay, that is if Raspi becomes a cult item....

aw, I'm already conflicted over whether I would want to attempt to reflow it (I realize I'd probably have to pay through the nose to get it professionally done, I'm assuming I'm rich and famous by this point in time) or to preserve it's original condition for collector value sake's

One wonders what it'd take to reflow the POP package cap as that's where the DRAM lives on this design...

Or you could sell it to me now. I am willing to spend thousands of dong on this.

Is the "add to mailing list" feature on the homepage faulty? I tried to add myself to it both yesterday and today, using Firefox, Chromium and Midori, but each time it just hangs. It says "Loading", and there's a spinning icon, but it never goes beyond that.

Why number 1337?

Also I would have the number 42 Raspberry Pi because then I could say I have the meaning of life in my pocket or in my possession (or at least the anwser to the meaning of life).

It's what we oldsters call 1337-speak, or leet-speak. (Short for elite.) See also N00b. ;)

Thanks Liz, I will read it now.

Does anyone want 1300135?

If you don't get it then type it into a hand held calculator, childish I know but the old ones are still good.

The leaving-one-in-a-bar is unfair to people who don't live in/near the UK. (I'm jealous of the fact that Europeans can take a 2-hour train ride to a different country... makes escaping the law much easier ;) ) I don't think the R-Pi team would take a plane to the west coast of the US just to lose one of their R-Pi prototypes in a bar.
