Current Status
2012-02-19 15:57 — sphinx has just finished fsck and is now back up after it's unexpected power cycle.
2012-02-19 15:54 — All networking has been restored to hex-1 although we're now running in a degraded mode where some customer ports have been downgraded to 100Mbps. We have redundant routing but currently do not have redundant core switching.
2012-02-19 14:55 — our replacement switch, sw-hex-1-1, failed after roughly three hours of operation, tripping the circuit breaker on the power bar. We are now formulating a plan to replace sw-hex-1-1 for the second time today.
2012-02-19 14:27 — the power outage is affecting roughly half of the machines in hex-1, including one of the routers and switch. Machines in other racks may have experienced a brief network outage while the other router adjusted to route around the problem.
2012-02-19 14:12 — there has been a power outage affecting some machines in in hex-1. We have someone on site investigating.
2012-02-19 11:46 — our replacement switch is now in, our redundant ring is operational and routing is now fully redundant. We're now migrating customer ports to the new switch.
2012-02-19 10:52 — I have arrived onsite with a spare switch and have started the configuration and replacement.
2012-02-19 08:59 — we have confirmed the switch has failed with onsite hands. We're now en-route to the data centre to replace it, eta 10:30.
2012-02-19 08:28 — we've seen a failure of a core switch in hex-1. We've updated our routing configuration and services have been restored to everyone who isn't directly connected to that switch.
2012-02-19 08:13 — we've lost contact with virtually everything in hex, we are investigating.
