For me, this project isn't overly legitimate without answering that question. That wording may sound more critical than I mean it to. But what I really mean is I'm very interested in putting a raspi into my car, but see the need to manage the power and/or corruption of the SD card issues as paramount.
That said, I don't have kids. I can imagine that keeping the kids happy, perhaps even quiet, on a long trip in a people mover like yours, could be very valuable and remembering to shut the Pi down manually every so often, isn't a huge issue on long trips. Shorter-trip city driving, a different story
