3G USB Dongle Support

Sat Jan 19, 2013 4:06 pm

Apologies if this has been posted before but I had a terrible time getting 3G working until found this software called Sakis3g, seems all one need to do is to undertake a simple procedure, though I believe GCC is required:

wget "http://www.sakis3g.org/versions/latest/ ... sakis3g.gz"
gunzip sakis3g.gz
chmod +x sakis3g
./sakis3g --interactive

http://www.sakis3g.org
I will always assume you are running Raspbian for desktop and Raspbmc for XMBC !

Does anyone have this code stored anywhere and could I get a copy from you? It looks like the www.sakis3g.org site is no longer available. Based on other posts on this forum it looks like it's been down since Jan 12th (2013) or so.

or buy a new/used 3G router such as Cradlepoint CTR500 or equiv.
These have a USB port for popular Verizon (or, yuck, AT&T) or other modem.
And it's a WiFi router. RPi could connect via ethernet or WiFi.
