Is it possible to add an avatar to our profile? Right now we're all just faceless blobs. It's creepy

Dear forum: Play nice

Re: Profile Pics
I have not added an avatar specifically for this board. That would lead me to think they are using http://en.gravatar.com/

Re: Profile Pics
Does not work for me.
I tried very carefully, make sure I made no errors but it does NOT accept my Raspi name + password.

Re: Profile Pics
HI Gert,
Not sure whether this will help, but I did the Gravatar stuff, but nothing changed, then went in to My Profile, click update (without any changes!) and when I next looked, I had an Avatar.
It's only the email address that links the forum with Gravatar, so that's the only thing that needs to match.

Re: Profile Pics
It can take a few tens of minutes for the profile changes to filter through the gravatar system.

Re: Profile Pics
My problem is that Gravatar does not accept the name + password I use for the Raspberry Pi forum.
I assumed both used the same 'WordPress.com' database. Seems not, or it is not working.
Until I can log into Gravatar I can't upload a picture.

Re: Profile Pics
You can use a completely different username and password on Gravatar, in fact you should I guess. Once set up, you specify what email address you want to use and associate that with an avatar.

i was going to suggest that he just tell everyone to go to the post office and look at the "most wanted" poster. that's what i do when people want a photo of me. just look for the one with the long hair and unkempt beard and that's near enough

Just had a call from Eben, who is soaking up the California sun. I quote:
"It's good that Gert is happy. It's not so much that when Gert is happy, everybody is happy; it's more that when he's miserable, it…communicates itself."
Hurrah for a working gravatar.

Re: Profile Pics
The email address I use on the forum is registered with Gravatar, yet I still appear to be a faceless blob. Ideas, anyone?
Re: Profile Pics
If you've only just made changes, be patient - it takes a little time for Gravatar to update itself.
Re: Profile Pics
I just found out it:
We must change the rate of our photos to G, on the gravatar site.

Re: Profile Pics
Thanks, Montekuri, just done that. Hope it works, because no other suggestions have, even though my image appears on the Gravatar site.

Thanks. It took longer than I expected. I guess I should be more patient.

Yes, but I have heard (although it may be only a rumour) that some forum members don't actually use their own photos....

Well I am shocked!
Where could that rumour have started?
