SysEx with p zero?

Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:38 am

my name is Matteo, I am 30 years old, I'm from Italy and I have a passion for synthesizers.

In fact I would like to create a simple device, that allows me to send to the USB (type B) of my synthesizer, a SysEx message of 61 bytes containing the information necessary to change the type of sound to the instrument.
Currently I do this through an App on the tablet but I would like something small and immediate to use in live. (for example 8 buttons each associated with a different sysex).
The Raspberry Pi Zero look very small, is it suitable for my purpose?

Thanks in advance to everyone.

The Pi Zero should be able to do what you want. It should be possible to create a hardware MIDI Out connection with nothing more than a couple of resistors and a 5-way DIN socket. I would also have thought a Pi Zero operating in gadget mode should be able to supply the SysEx through USB.

It would be worth searching the forum for posts on using PI's with MIDI.
