How to install mariadb 10.5 on Pi OS?

Latest version available in raspbian repo is only 10.3.x. Tried to setup a repo...

Code: Select all

# sudo apt install software-properties-common dirmngr
# sudo apt-key adv --fetch-keys 'https://mariadb.org/mariadb_release_signing_key.asc'
# sudo add-apt-repository 'deb [arch=amd64] http://sfo1.mirrors.digitalocean.com/mariadb/repo/10.5/debian/dists/buster main'
Get the following error...

Code: Select all

aptsources.distro.NoDistroTemplateException: Error: could not find a distribution template for Raspbian/buster
Which makes sense given there is no official Raspbian support?

Adding an amd64 repository is pointless. Raspberry Pi OS is armhf (with an arm64 version currently in Beta). amd64 code is for 64-bit PCs, not Pis.

Are you sure you need 10.5? It doesn't even look like 10.5 will be in the next release of Raspberry Pi OS or Debian. They're currently sticking with 10.3 from what I can see. although 10.5.5 is currently in Debian Experimental, so maybe it will be added to Bullseye if there is time.

The only Linux Operating System which offers 10.5 is ArchLinuxArm as far as I am aware:

Code: Select all

Add this line
sudo dpkg --get-selections |

Then this one
sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.5
