Pi Hut and defective power adapter

I just received my Pi yesterday. Had to order from Pi Hut as none of the US distributors showed in stock, and read some horror stories about them.

The AC Micro USB adapter was defective, tested this with a friends cell phone charger that worked fine with the Pi.

Awaiting a response from them, but wanted some advice.

It seems it would cost $40 or more to send back to the UK to replace the thing, I can get them on eBay for $10-15 so that's stupid, should i just ask for a partial refund maybe?

After searching the forums, it seems very few if any adapters provided by these companies are "High Quality" like the Pi is stated as requiring. They are all cheap Chinese junk....

I ordered one from Newark. They showed 0 in stock but it still only took 7 days to reach my house.

Aside from the official retailers the only vendor I would consider buying from is adafruit.

None of this helps you after the fact but I make mention incase some other Americans are looking into purchasing one.

I would ask them for a refund. Also if you purchased with a CC many have programs to protect their customers and you can often call them and get your money back.
