Hi John,

Thanks for that output, it's really helpful.

It looks like the permissions must have somehow gotten out of whack between versions. We made some changes to how files are managed and whilst your user account's a part of the 'indiecity' group, the group permissions for that directory aren't set correctly. We're looking into how this circumstance could have occurred.

In the meantime, would you mind running this command and letting me know if that improves things at all?

sudo chmod -R 775 /var/lib/indiecity/pistore

It's possible that you might need to do this for some other folders too, but we'll see how this goes first. :)

Thanks very much,
~Richard Williams

You are on the right track ( when I got the spaces in the right place! ) but only the content at the top of the page is there. If you click on Explore a 100% appears briefly on the right but no content appears below the grey area. Also clicking on log in does nothing. clicking on set up or help does give another page.

Thanks for you continuing help on this one.

John

Hi John,

Well it sounds like we're making progress, at least. Would you mind trying a couple more times (just so I've got multiple instances to look at) and then posting the most recent contents from the log file?

Thanks very much,

Dear All,

I have a similar problem, the GUI does load, just loads up blank (100% apparently!)

I'm away from my Pi for the weekend however when I'm back at school on Monday I will give
sudo chmod -R 775 /var/lib/indiecity/pistore a shot as suggested. I too run through a school proxy. I have edited the /etc/bash.bashrc with the following 3 commands,

export http_proxy=http://ipaddress:port
export ftp_proxy=http://ipaddress:port
export https_proxy=http://ipaddress:port

as the school uses smoothwall I am channelling all data through port 9090, not sure if this might be an issue. Also not sure if I need the 'export https_proxy' command but I'll leave it. A note to fellow teachers, don't try using a smoothwall.proxy.local the Pi just ignores it, find the IP Address and go with that!

I will update post tests.

Thanks for keeping this forum active. :)

Hi there,

I'm afraid the Pi Store currently doesn't support proxies. Previously, users requiring a proxy would receive the "UI Failed to Load" message, but in newer versions, the UI comes bundled with the Pi Store package.

Unfortunately, this means that whilst affected users are now able to load the UI, they aren't able to view the Store. We realise that this is important to a lot of users, so I'll pass on this fresh request.

Apologies for the inconvenience,
~Richard Williams

Just updated my raspbian distro few minutes ago (pistore was also updated) and now all works correctly. UI shows up and I'm testing the installation of a free app (a text based adventure)

Good gork guys :)

PD: had my SD image helped in the process?

Any progress on the Pi Store working from behind a proxy? This would be GREATLY appreciated by all those who work in educational establishments and who have to work under locked down systems! :ugeek:

Hey! We're aware of the demand for this feature and it's certainly on our to-do list but I can't give you a time frame at the moment. I'll take a look at the next couple of milestones when I'm in the office tomorrow, see if it'd be do-able sooner :)

Any update as to whether or not the Pi Store supports proxy's yet?
i followed the above posted and added the following to the /etc/bash.bashrc

http_proxy="username:[email protected]:port"
https_proxy="username:[email protected]:port"

And it does not seem to have any effect, UI loads just fine but the Pi Store is completely blank for me still. I have the same proxy settings set in my environment as well.

Sorry to re-awake this old thread.

But, I've just updated my SD card to the latest Raspbian Wheezy (7th Jan 2014).

I see the same problem as the OP when trying to launch the PiStore form the icon.

But, if I open an LXterm, and do:
sudo pistore

then it loads OK !

Looks like the permissions problem still persists - even in this new distro version.

Regards

Nick
