Using the built-in SD card copier

Fri May 01, 2020 2:29 pm

I currently have my PI4 running on a 32GB SD card but I'm only using 4.3GB. I have a spare 16GB micro SD card that I want to use as a test backup. Can I use the built-in SD card copier app to copy my card to the 16GB card since I'm only using 4.3GB of space?

Yes, as you've found out :)

One of the main points of the Card Copier is that it can copy the contents of one card to a card that is not the same size, but does have enough space on it.
This is really important as even two identical looking 32GB cards are often not exactly the same size. They can vary by a MB or more.
