Hello,
After my Raspberry Pi 4 failed booting I noticed some loose wires in micro SD card slot as shown on a photo. It seems to be a problem. Why and what happened to the Raspberry Pi? Should I apply the warranty?

I don't see any "loose wires".
Did you read the boot problem sticky in beginners.
in 99.9% of cases the problem lies with a non bootable sd-card, not with a damaged RPI, all RPI's are tested in the factory and leave the factory working.

If you mean the bits of metal you can see through the hole in the bottom left of the slot: I think that's the read-only switch / sensor (not used on the Pi)

No, those two wires touch each other when a SD card is inserted. It's a kind of switch that tells the Pi if it should boot from there or not.

There is no "read-only" switch on a micro-SD card.

It is the
card detection switch but it isn't connected to anything on any of the Pi boards. The firmware detects card presence by trying to talk to it.

As @trejan says: they are not used on the Pi.
