Cash Register w/ RPI

Mon Feb 17, 2020 2:33 am

Would it be possible to make a Raspberry Pi open a cash register via "R11/RJ12" (it seems like an Ethernet cable). I've been searching and searching and can't seem to find any projects or threads like this. https://www.amazon.com/Register-Drawer- ... 801&sr=8-8

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you! :)

glancing over the amazon link the thing that stood out as relevant to your Q was " Drawer Kick Interface" highlighting that and searching for that term led to
https://www.beaglehardware.com/howtopro ... rawer.html

so it looks feasible with a 24v opto issolated interface perhaps?

I looked and it seems like thats for receipt printer connection. I'm trying to connect directly to the raspberry pi and perhaps use a relay or something? Thanks!

your right.. perhaps this might be more useful..
https://electronics.stackexchange.com/q ... erial-port

looks like you need to supply 1a @ 24v for a few ms 200-500?

just make sure you isolate your vulnerable pi from the 1a 24v power used to drive the drawer.
