pi4 buster get stuck on "apt-update"

Starnge issue
I can't upgrade the pi
get stuck on 18% (like this for 2 hours now)

Break the process with control-c and try again.

If apt still uses the same server and you’re stuck at the same file, you might want to tell apt to use another server.
Not sure of the best way of doing that, manually you would add to apt sources list within /etc/apt/*. Google is your friend.

We are having this exact same issue!
We have about 5 Pi4's that we've been trying to setup and get updates done.
Seems that the default mirrors must be wacked because any apt-get update stalls out.

Any idea on what repository I should change over to to get these suckers updated?

Change nothing. Wait until Monday when the world is back on a normal working week and everyone will be back from the Xmas & New Year debauchery.

I just finished update and upgrade a while ago on my RPi4B-2G.... went smoothly....no problems encountered.
