Raspbian Startup Sound

Wed Dec 18, 2019 1:05 am

Hello

How would you add a startup sound to Raspbian? All hugged I found were for GNOME, and I use MATE.

Thanks

Raspbian does not have a built in event triggered sounds function.
However you can add a command to autostart which will play a sound at each login or reboot.
Open autostart in an editor such as nano:

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart
Add this command to the end of the autostart file:

Code: Select all

mplayer /usr/share/python_games/beep1.ogg
This is only an example.... Use your favorite sound player and sound file.......
Note python games must be installed for this example to work........
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.
