Yup that's an interview with "Mr Raspberry Pi"

This made me think, is the Pi foundation a publicly traded company? If so what's their stock ticker?

Nope. They're a charity.

I believe not.

The Foundation (RPF) is a charitable organisation that takes money and gives it away.
The Trading arm RPT) is wholly-owned by the Foundation, and makes loads of money that goes straight to the Foundation.

They shouldn't have said that. It'll lead to a plague of pink unicorns.

Maybe that what they're working on...

Realistically...probably the Pi5 and/or the SoC for the Pi5. There are other likely possibilities, of course. CM4, for instance.

Raspberry Pi (trading) ltd. is a private limited company in the UK that has a single 100% shareholder - the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an incorporated charity in the UK. Non-retained profits from the Trading company are gift-aid donated (read: tax-free profits) to the Foundation which it uses as part of its funding model.

We've got like 7 of those on the go at the moment. Eben needs to be more specific about which project he's being secretive about 🙃

Maybe Pi5 is RISC-V.
Maybe the secret project is an autonomous drone for re-capturing all the escaped Pink Ponies. Then the Pi5 can have a Pink Pony printed on each SOC in thermochromic ink, so that it disappears as throttling temperature is reached.
After all, Pink Ponies would never get involved in throttling anything.

Secret project?
Pi5 would not be secret, we all expect them to be working on that.
Unicorn's indeed.

Up to 200 people, blink and suddenly they are huge :o
How big do you need to be to have a research lab?
About 200 apparently :D

Blaming us for dragging RPF off course?
How about thanking us for all those toy PC sales and financing the growth?
Have I deprived 30+ kids of their Pi's?
Call it job protection, that's 30 less kids getting educated and taking my job ;)
plug away at it year after year after year,
Been doing that since 2012, but I think the old neurons are fading as fast as I try to train new ones.

Magazines too, I detect an Empire in the making.
Controlling kids minds?
Can we have an Altas of the World coloured pink where Pi's are sold?
The 2nd British Empire of Pi's, will it fight or merge with Apple's Empire?

Foundation != Trading.

About 70 in trading, but that includes the Comms team AND the magazine publishing. So number of engineering types is much smaller.

Rest of your post is just a bit weird. These brain dump makes no sense sometimes.

Bear in mind that he went on to say that the adult enthusiasts then went on help kids--the primary target of the Pi--get into programming, so it was all to the good. Not the *intended* path, but an effective one, none the less.

If I had to guess a secret project beyond just CM4 or Pi5, I'd say it's machine learning related. There's plenty of hype for kids to learn about that. Pis are already used in robots or with sensors, so upgrading the "AI" capability of a Pi or creating attached hardware like Google did with that vision kit is a possibility.
