BCM2711 peripherals specification document

Thu Sep 12, 2019 4:53 pm

This is mentioned in the Pi4 datasheet but still seems to be unavailable. Does anyone know when it might appear, or can point me to a repository of the sort of information it will contain.

Thanks

It's "coming soon".

We are compiling a detailed specification of BCM2711's feature set that is not under NDA (similar in scope to the BCM2835 ARM peripherals document released many years ago for Pi 1) and will publish it when it is ready.

Just to add, that it's a very large document which is why it's taking a while.

Not sure. I've proof read it, but not sure what else is intended before release.

No and no. When it's released I am sure it will be well publicised.

Is there any other way to determine how to use the ALT GPIO pin peripherals mux?
Or must we just wait on the document?

Thanks.

What is the holdup in releasing the spec? If it is just you guys not having enough time to review, perhaps we can help with it (or testing that all magic numbers are accurate)? Or may be it is simply stuck somewhere in the pipeline (I am sure N people have to sign off on a release) and one of you folks have to shine a spotlight of attention until it is released.... A lack of detailed documentation really hurts non-Linux OSes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know. There are some personal reasons why the person writing it has been unable to come in to the office , but don't know if that is the holdup.
