Hi everyone,
I am going to buy a raspberry pi 3 b+, I wanted to know if I could use the samsung normal charging power supply which outputs 5V and 2A. Can I use it without creating problems? (the pi would use it for openmediavault)

Re: power supply raspberry pi 3 b+
Unlikely but possible.
Chargers can drop the voltage down to 4 and a bit volts to maintain the current and this will crash the Pi.
You may get away with it but find issues with Ethernet / WiFi (as I did with a 2.1amp supply).
Honestly, it’s a lot simpler for your future use to spend the few pounds on the correct Pi supply.

is there something in the RPi3B+ that needs charging? (hint: understand the definition/meaning of "charging")
do a little bit more research on this then come back to answer
if there is any then by any means yes, use your charger
if there is none then get a proper power supply with the microUSB cable rated at least 20AWG (0.75mmsq)

yup your right on this one...but that doesn't hold charge enough to keep the RPi powered for even 1ms....

Actually, I agree with you. It is a trick answer to a somewhat ambiguous question. The fundamental point being, of course, that there is no energy storage device of any significance on a Pi. No batteries, no large scale capacitors or inductors. Therefore, the proper source of power for a Pi is a "power supply unit" (PSU) and definitely not a device sold as a "charger".
But then...I tend to nitpick the very common but badly used technical terms. To take one that shouldn't be a problem here, there is no such aircraft as an "Me-109". There was a "Bf-109" and an "Me-262", but no "Me-109" in spite of the Bf-109 having been designed by Willy Messerschmidt.

You need a Power Supply, just buy the Official one:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/ra ... er-supply/
The information is out there....you just have to let it in.

To nitpick further, "an original power supply" is not what you should buy.

My favorite nit is 'geothermal heating', when used for heat pumps which have their outside coils buried under the ground (or in a convenient body of water). Iceland has a significant amount of geothermal heating, and New Zealand has it in a couple of places; I believe that there may also be one or two experimental sites in California. Pretty much everyone else who uses the term just has ground source heat pumps. They work pretty well but they aren't geothermal.W. H. Re: power supply raspberry pi 3 b+
No you should use the "latest official RPI3 power supply", the one specifically designed for the RP3B+.
the very latest one is for the RPI4, and has an USB-C connector, so not suitable for the RPI3B+
