I normally avoid anything that sails close to cross-posting, but since there's been quite a bit of engagement - in various threads - on this General discussion forum recently regarding running the RPi4 in 64-bit mode (either kernel, or kernel+userland), and I'm not sure how many people here closely follow the goings on in the Operating system distributions -> Other -> Gentoo oubliette ^-^, I thought it'd be worth a quick, one-off announce post here for information's sake. Thanks!

This is a nice alternate to Raspbian, I've only dabbled with it, but very promising. 8-)

I tried this latest version on my new Pi4 4gb but encountered a problem with the wifi. It allowed me to connect to my wifi LAN but it won't connect to any internet site. I tried to ping other devices on my LAN but get no response. I changed the local in RPI config from UK to US but it didn't help.
edit: Wired works.

Given the facility to add a first-start script, has anyone yet written such a script to load/configure/start VNC in a manner that will allow connecting to a copy of RealVNC (on my iMac if it should matter; probably not) that is already serving Raspbian happily?
It seems like something that would be fairly widley useful.

This should not be too difficult to arrange (basic setup instructions for VNC are in the wiki here (alongside those for RDP, here)) - just a question of automating the initial steps in the /boot/startup.sh script. I'll have a look at this shortly, once the nspawn release is out of the way.

Can you clarify if the image is a 64 bit kernel with a 64 bit userland or mixed ?
