Connecting Pi 4 to Verizon Data

Mon Aug 12, 2019 6:03 am

Hello, I'm trying to make a video streaming wearable camera using a pi 4. I have it working using local wifi I'm just curious - could this work using cellular data? Would be great to have some range when videoing. Thanks in advance.

Would it work to create a WiFi hotspot with a phone?

Yeah it would I was just thinking it would be one less thing to do if the pi could just connect to data on its own

Maybe one of these https://www.pianywhere.com/?
I wouldn't. PiAnywhere aka IoT Bit is from Divi aka Altitude Technology who are a dead company. Another sketchy crowdfunding disaster. You can still get their overpriced HATs from Mouser but don't expect any support for it or the libraries they supply.

The 4G HATs needed a USB connection anyway so you might as well buy a 4G dongle instead. Only the GSM HAT could use the GPIO connector UART.

So if I buy one of these: https://www.verizonwireless.com/interne ... dem-u620l/

Could I get it to work on the pi? It says windows and mac operating systems. Would be sweet to get it to use wifi and this data, whichever is stronger.
