Hi All,

Newby here so apologies if a dumb question. Just got a pi 4 and wanted to connect to a dell monitor UP2715K. This monitor should be fine for 4k input either by the mDP or DP 1 input. Have connected into both inputs from the pi4 micro hdmi output using various cable connections but to no avail. Has anybody managed this ? Any thoughts appreciated.

So, not connecting at any resolution, or connecting but not getting 4k?

mDP and DP being Display Port? If yes, RPis do not support so what cables/adaptors are you using?

UP2715K is a DisplayPort only monitor so doesn't accept HDMI signals. You're most likely using a passive DisplayPort to HDMI cable which is meant for DisplayPort++ devices that can output HDMI on their DisplayPort connector. It doesn't work in the other direction to convert HDMI to DisplayPort.

You can get active HDMI to DisplayPort adapters with the necessary conversion circuitry inside but they're not cheap if you want 4Kp60. A bigger issue is that your monitor is 5K so you'll probably have issues with the RPi 4 and the HDMI to DisplayPort adapter if you do actually want to drive it at 5K.

hi all for getting back to me on this.

the monitor came with hdmi(female) to display port adapter(male) so i simply went from pi mini to hdmi cable (male) and plugged straight in. This hasnt given any output on the monitor. have checked the pi works into another monitor so thats ok. will have a look at trejans suggestion and will of course reply if I get something working.

Is the adaptor like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Displayport-Ad ... B07PMD2B1Q or like https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0752D33PJ ?

Former is DP source to HDMI display = no good for you. (And probably needs a DP that can output HDMI as mentioned in an earlier reply). Latter is for HDMI source to DP display though that particular one does not support 4K. Note the USB plug to get power for the electronics.

Drgeoff - thanks for the latter link. 4K would be nice but 1080p is perfectly fine for the application I had in mind

You may find better. That was just an example.

Did you ever get this working? I've been trying for a month back and forth with different Amazon cables and no success. My last attempt was with this micro-HDMI to HDMI (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B2 ... UTF8&psc=1) which connects to an active HDMI source to display port (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G7 ... UTF8&psc=1)

I'm using a raspberry pi 4b and I can ssh into it and everything else works correctly (including keyboard and mouse). Just can't get the display to show up.
