To get one in that condition would be very unlucky, to get 2 ???

IMHO, Something was tampered with between leaving the manufacturer and reaching the customer.

All of these points are the reasons we would like to get the boards back.
There are several qa steps before boards leave the factory, so it's worth chasing through to find out how these ones have been allowed out the door in that state, or have they been modified since, and if so then by whom.
