I am setting up a cluster with the Raspberry Pi 4B+ out of interest, ( 2 RAPI4B+ and another cluster of 3 3B+)and I have a question around providing power to them all.
Extra power requirements for the setup is running an M.2 SSD drive (30mw-10w) through one of the Pis USB3 ports and active cooling for each pi va dual fans on each pi (.45W). Yeah, I know the M.2 is overkill, but hey, I'm doing it because I can.
I would like to avoid having individual wall worts (one for each pi), but I am struggling to find a USB charging station which provides 5V/3A to say 4 ports. Some USB charging stations have one port providing 5V/3A and the rest are 5v/2.4A - which of course is under the requirement for the RAPI4B+.
I would rather avoid the complexity and costs associated with POE. Likewise, I would like to keep the total power consumption down (with Power costing 35c per KW here in Australia).
Does anyone have any suggestions on options they're looking at?
