Thank you for solving (I guess) the Scratch 3 problem

The Pi4 also comes with the Mesa V3D driver as default, and a LOT of time has been spent getting that up to speed, work that will also apply to the older models, so WebGL should work much better. We are continuing to work on it as well, so more improvements coming.

Do the Pi4 need to run Raspbian Buster? I do not see the Raspbian Buster in Raspbian download page yet. The blog got a download link, but that just pointing to the existing Raspbian Stretch download page.

Yes. There were lots of changes in Buster for the 3D graphics system, which we use extensively. The Buster images for older models will be distributed soon.

Did you volunteer to get up so early to answer questions? :-)

I've compiled a PDF with a lot of technical information & details about the Pi 4 - thanks go out to the Raspberry Pi engineering and commercial teams for answering my and many other reseller's questions.

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1560/ ... 4.pdf?2142

note that the part about Bluetooth needs to be reworked - it's the same chip as on the Pi 3B+, but re-certified for BT 5.0
the part about GPIO is incorrect as well, the ALT functions are not on ALT5 / ALT6, but distributed on the previous ALTs.
When I wrote this , the preliminary datasheet was not yet available.

Yup. Not too bad, at least everything I needed to do up front could be done from home (updating the technical docs for Pi4 - online now). Just so you know, I am sitting in front of laptop in my pants and socks. Which would be frowned upon at work.

This is fantastic :D

Do you still need to purchase a MP2 License with the PI 4 ?

Wow, right when I have no money T_T (actually more like right when I just spent all my money)

Will have to see if somebody buys me one in 30 days ;)

For those wanting to use Buster on older models, the Pi4 image (once linked) will also work on the older models, so you will be able to use all the improved stuff, including the major graphics driver updates.

One big change on the Pi4 - there is no HW support for MP2 or VC1. These are both now decoded in software with the more powerful ARM cores. . So you don't need a licence.

Reading the specs list I am happy to know that the Pi offers 4GB of Ram. Is the power supply with USB C cheaper than the previous micro USB power supply?

$8 I believe. It's a really lovely small design, very similar to Amazon power supplies. We now make specific devices for specific regions, so we don't waste all the plastic on the region adapters.

That is good except when you need to take your Pi abroad

@jamesh Thanks for your confirmation on Raspbian Buster is needed for Pi4. I just ordered one wth 4G RAM :D I hope by the time it arrives, I can see the Raspbian Buster link ready for me to download.

I might be asking too much, but does the micro SD card slot have the same data transfer speed as before?

Some people using a travel adapter is better for the planet than everyone getting plastic adapters they don't need.

No. Double.
DDR50 is now supported and the controller now supports ADMA.

Tricky tricky fooling everyone into believing it wouldn't be out until 2020. I'm assuming VC5 has x11 drivers, yes?
