Hi all,

I recently bought a Raspberry Pi and i'm currently deciding what to build with it.

I work in a bar and was wondering if anyone has come across some interesting projects to build a for a bar using a Raspberry Pi?

Or if people could point me in the right direction of where to start looking because I haven't come across any projects so far other than a digital advertising display and a digital thermometer.

The model I have is the Zero W. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Some suggestions that come to mind....

1. Pub BGM provided by RPiZW based music streamer / internet radio
2. RPiZW controlled LED bottle illumination
3. RPiZW based retro-gaming rig

You could also use your Pi to control LED strips, electronics in general.
Maybe an Alexa type of thing should be nice too..

Good luck!

If your pub has the need for cold food storage, then the Pi could be used to periodically take temperature readings to satisfy the inspectors.

This is more mechanical, but a machine that could tip a bottle and pour a shot would make for interesting conversation.

A reaction timer.....light (LED or whatever) changes colors or comes on (or goes out) timed to the hitting a big push button. A screen could then show a roadrunner/cheetah to a turtle, or maybe calculate a trip-and-fall likelihood percentage based upon the reaction time.....

A micro brewery?

A breath alcohol meter and call a taxi button.

Laser clarity sensors on the beer lines?

Facial recognition with a secret display behind the bar so all your staff can cheerfully say "hello Mr Smith, the usual pink gin?"

Many years ago, a company was making devices attached to the optics: each shot was logged, as were bottle changes. This was long before microcontrollers and the Raspberry Pi. The idea was that the management could keep tabs on when and what was sold/dispensed. Of course, you would still have to keep track of the unopened spirit bottles, and ensure the right bottle was placed in the right optic....

It's a pub, so how about a robotic peanut dispenser?
