For Chrome OS you need the SSH APP.

Thank you so much HawaiianPi for all the help I finally got the raspberry pi hooked up to my hotspot and now when I do the ssh steps it gets up to the password part and won't let me type in the password so I am guessing this is because I don't have the app from the play store. So is the name the same because when you posted the two links they both lead to the extension. Thank you again for all the help.

correction i do have the app, so i dont know why it wont let me type the password.

Linux, like unix before it, doesn't echo anything back when you enter a password. It's a mild security feature. Anyone trying to watch won't even know how long the password is. So...not seeing anything as you type in the password is expected behavior.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me along the way especially Hawaiianpi. I did it I am finally in like Flin, after trials and tribulations I finally figured out how to connect with WiFi and my Chromebook. Now its on to learning more about Linux and raspberry pi. Again this is my first go in this world of coding and I plan on becoming a Jedi knight once I am done. If anyone can point me in the right direction for first time projects I would appreciate it. Thank you all again.

If you have the Desktop version of Raspbian on your Raspberry Pi, you can use the SSH connection to run sudo raspi-config and enable VNC server (5-Interfacing Options, P3-VNC), then you can use the RealVNC Viewer for Chrome to connect to the Raspberry Pi Desktop remotely.

its not so simple u can not do that
heres what to do
to start off with you will need to connect it to a tv or monitor (if you do not have on you can buy a cheep one of eaybay )that has HTMI. hopefully you bought the raspberry pi starter kit but if you didn't you will need the charger a keyboard and a mouse then plug it all in .there is a way with a mac and windows but if you need to at school try use the class tv (if u have one)

You absolutely do not need a keyboard, mouse or monitor to set up a headless Raspberry Pi (even with a Chromebook)!

The procedure is the same as it is with Windows or Mac OS, you just need different software to write the SD card (Chromebook Recovery Utility).

I know you were trying to help, but pretty much everything you said was wrong. If you would like some help setting up a headless Pi with a Chromebook, without a keyboard, mouse or screen, just ask.
