New Raspbian release 8th April 19

Tue Apr 16, 2019 7:57 am

Hi,

just noted there's a new release of Raspbian, dated 8th April 2019. What's new/changed in this release (as I couldn't locate a BLOG post so far)?

Number 3 post on this subject, it is a point release and not a "new" release par-se:

http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbi ... _notes.txt

It should now be a fork of Debian ARMHF version 9.8 with the RPF / RPT add-ons etcetera.

Thanks guys!

Link to release notes should be added to DOWNLOADS page as well (https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/) , then I could have figured out myself.

There are already THREE links on that page to the Release Notes.

There is a link to the release notes on that page. As an example for Raspbian Stretch with desktop:-

If only someone at the foundation had thought of that, they could have added something like this.

How can one assume that a word LINK in the same color as the rest is a link? Sorry, but I'm not howering over a website looking for some easter eggs ... On my screen I can hardly see a color deviation for the 'link'

one thing it did that I didnt like.... killed DAC audio from Kodi 18.1.... in my RPi3B+ with HiFiBerry DAC clone setup.
DAC audio is still working fine though ...... in Raspbian Stretch Desktop.....

It's not the same color. If it looks that way to you, then your monitor needs adjustment. And just the fact that it says Link should be a clue.

However, I apologise if my post upset you. It was meant as sarcastic humor (hence, the wink at the end).

My post was meant as sarcastic humor (as I suspect the others were), but that doesn't always translate well over the Internet, and people react differently to that kind of humor. When I receive posts like that I usually laugh it off, correct my post and thank the others for pointing out my mistake. Unless I haven't had enough sleep or coffee...

Are you serious?

the link is in RED, the rest of the text is BLACK, if you hover your mouse pointer over it the cursor should change shape to indicate its a hyperlink, it has the text "Release notes" right in front of it, and the links says LINK in capitals!
if you cannot find hyperlinks in a browser screen, how can you surf the web?
and how could it be more obvious?

perhaps my sarcasm detector is off-line, that could be it...

<pedantic mode>Interestingly, on an iPad the red is close to the background colour with Night Shift on and unlike the other links it’s not underlined
I’ve never worked out how to hover either with this machine

Please look a few lines higher up the page for the link to 7Zip, do you notice the underline and the font ?
The Release Notes Link does not have the underline and uses a thinner font,

Instead of "Release notes: Link" a line with "Release notes" would be more recognizable and consistent with the upper part of the page.

I'll have a chat with the webteam Monday, it's odd there is no underline. Should be there.

Meanwhile, please keep things polite. If you have a problem with a post, report it, don't comment on, that just makes things worse.

More odd is that the label for the link is
Release notes:Link
(which is so very 1990's AOL style).

I think it would look better with
with a proper underlined link.

Strangely the underline disappears when you hover the mouse over the 7Zip link :o (using Chrome under Windows 7).

With Chrome under Android 8.1 the underline behaviour does not exist when I use my finger,
with the use of the Samsung S-Pen the behaviour is identical to Chrome under Windows 7 with a mouse.
