How hot is it getting, and how are you measuring the temperature? The Pi SoC is based on mobile technology and is designed to run at temperatures that would be painful to touch. So what "feels" hot might not actually be all that hot.

The SoC won't even start to throttle until 70C (158F). And it won't fully throttle until 85C (185F). Image
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?

OTOH, if its getting hot with little or no load, then probably it has been damaged (overvoltage connected somewhere?) and will need to be replaced.
