I've had a quick look, and it would appear that Counter-Strike is for x86 processors, and isn't open source, meaning that it won't run on the ARM-based Raspberry Pi (unlike x86 Linux, you cannot use WINE on ARM Linux).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Windows

Windows XP or later
1.7 GHz Intel or AMD Processor (3.0 Ghz recommended)
512 MB of RAM (1 GB recommended)
DirectX 8.1 graphics card (DirectX 9.0 recommended)

This is from wikipedia and should answer your question

The problem is not the CPU power, that might be enough - it's the CPU architecture. While nearly every home computer today uses the x86 architecture (Intel or AMD processors), the Raspberry Pi is based on the ARM one (smartphones usually have an ARM processor), cause else the projects aims (small and cheap) couldn't be reached.

Windows runs on x86 machines only so far (and the upcoming Windows 8 will require much more power than the Raspberry Pi has), and since cs 1.6 requires Windows it will be impossible, even if the device could be powerful enough.

may help, may not.

That's a CS server, not a client. You won't be able to play CS on an ARM based client.

wine+qemu is the key read this

http://wiki.winehq.org/ARM

also Golensrc engine is closed source so i found the Xash3d(Golensrc clone)

so a cs 1.3 can be played with a lot of work

The game you'll have to settle for will be urban terror.  Hopefully its not too cpu heavy.  Being based off ioquake3 means there's hope it will actually run.12

There will be a media player provided with the Distro. This can play back 1080p30 H264 (at least). You don't need VLC, and for the first version VLC won't use the acceleration

HD videos should work or RPi, and I believe will, using some player.

However I am not convinced VLC will work on RPi. Some people have reported some success porting the x86 code to ARM, but it appears to be highly complex and fraught with problems.

vlc is currently available for armel, but not armhf on Debian.  I think that the Pi's CPU does have hardware floating point, so one should use armhf, but I guess armel would work but slowly.  However mixing distributions in Debian is difficult so you would have either to wait for someone to port it to armhf, or run your entire system on armel.

It seems to work fine on the Pandora.
