Current way to disable getty?

Sun Nov 25, 2018 5:55 pm

Hi folks.

I've been looking round and there seem to be several old posts around for disabling getty. I don't have the services running mentioned in the posts, but I know getty is running.

I need bash command ways to disable it, or at least file editing. I'd sooner know the up-to-date way to achieve this rather than taking a stab in the dark!

I'm quite happy for the boot up serial report to run, that could actually be pretty handy, but I want to disable the login.

Thanks folks.

It you want to stop a getty running on the Serial Port (which is disabled by default these days I believe) then try:

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl stop [email protected]
or

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl stop [email protected]
as required.

Hope this helps,
Dave.
