Connectivity problem on Pi 3 Model B

Fri Oct 19, 2018 2:37 am

Dear All

I wanted to talk about one problem with Pi ,namely with internet connection. The problem is that raspberry wants to connect to internet only through Ethernet ignoring WiFi connection which is turned on and set in /etc/resolv.conf , /etc/interfaces , /etc/dhcpcd/, wpa-config and so on...
The trick is this Pi has been acting strange since the beginning: it wouldn't let to find it in IP scanners .So I had to connect it to laptop in a hard way by getting HDMI cable and display ,setting a static IP to Pi so that there will be no problem for working through laptop. But now I see the drawback of this method. Below is provided the code excerpt indicating the problem. 123.123.201.101 is the custom IP address that I chose.

P.S. SSH is active,Firewall does not affect the issue, power management is turned off through iwconfig.

Thank you for answers in advance.

All I had to do to get wifi working was to enter my ESSID & passphrase, using DHCP, after checking/setting Country details, (on Raspbian).

1) put those files back to what they where first
2) what instructions are you following
3) why did you choose this address - are you in China ?

You should only ever use the designated private address ranges for your self assigned static IP addresses. Using any Internet routable addresses like 123.123.201.101 will very often lead to networking problems. See here for a list of allowed private addresses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network

+1 for wrong IP Addressing and presuming you are using Raspbian Stretch then put everything related to networking back to default and see:

So first the IP address must be changed. I'll try to do it as it is advised in a range of certain addresses. And the reason why I decided to use the fixed IP is because otherwise the RPi was undetectable.

Thank you all for answers, gentleman
