Raspberry Pi 3 B+ reset button

Fri Sep 21, 2018 5:14 pm

Hi all

New here and sorry if this has been asked already but I couldn't find any clear answer online

I had a Raspberry Pi 3 and I soldered in the pin header into RUN. I installed a simple N/O sprung loaded switch to the headers and it reset my unit perfectly

I upgraded to a pi 3 B+ and did the exact same thing and for some reason it doesn't reset the unit, I checked continuity and pressing the button makes the meter register

What am I missing and doing wrong

Many thanks for the help, much appreciated

Trippy

Its not a connection for a reset button, it never has been.
in the latest incarnation of the PI, the pin next to the RUN pin is no longer connected to GND, but has a new function.
Therefore connecting a button between the two pins cannot be used to restart the SoC.

Not to worry. Wired one leg of the switch to RUN and the other leg to one of the ground pins of the GPIO
Reset now working

Thanks
