RPI and mp server Music??

Tue Aug 28, 2018 9:41 am

Good morning.

My question is to see if you can perform this function with mpd and how??

The function is to install mpd in RPI2 and make the music server.

Then from another pc connect through the clients, sonata, ario, gmpc, etc ... and through the network, listen the music that is in the RPI.

I say this, because I have been trying this functionality for 3 days  , looking like crazy for inet and all the manuals that I have found explain, theoretically, this functionality, but in none of the cases has it ever worked. The maximum has been through a web browser.

So, that's why I ask, if this functionality is possible and how it could be done or I'm breaking my head for something that mpd can not do.

Thanks and sorry for bothering.

you're better using pre-made music streaming/server apps like

1. Volumio
2. RuneAudio
3. MoOde
4. LMS
5. and there are still others available

you can even use LibreELECT

have a look at each to see which one suits your liking.
"Don't come to me with 'issues' for I don't know how to deal with those
Come to me with 'problems' and I'll help you find solutions"

Some people be like:
"Help me! Am drowning! But dont you dare touch me nor come near me!"

Thanks a lot, but...

In this RPI I have another programs ( transmission, amule ) and I think that is possible put another program ( mpd ) and make a server.

For this reason, I did not want to use a distribution that would do this function for me.

I just wanted to mount another application, which is this case, it's mpd and that I would do this function ...

Again, thanks for your help ...

RuneAudio , MoOde are good apps for trying. They are not premium.

From this sentence I'm a bit unsure if you understand how MPD work. The music will be played on the device where mpd is installed, its the Pi that will need to be connected to an amplifier and some speakers. ( MPD = Music Player Daemon )
