Massive fingers, Tiny Camera Connector Clip..

Sat Jul 28, 2018 7:22 am

Any ideas, I'm skint for the next two weeks. I've got three rpi zero w's.. all of them work great except for me connecting cameras to them.. the clip on each one (as hard as I try to be gentle) just snap when I touch them.. anyone found a reliable way of still connecting a cam?

The tiny black clip that normally secures the cable to the RPi is what usually gets broken first. I did it myself and my fingers aren't that big. The fix I found was to go ahead and insert the cable without the clip and then push the clip in place. You can then secure it with hot melt glue or fast setting epoxy if you want a permanent installation. The hot melt is easier if you change your mind later.

To prevent such clip breakage in the future I suggest using a precision screw driver (others call it watchman's screwdriver) to gently nudge the "clip" in/out of place. Use the ( - ) type.

Even the ones sold at a dollar shop will suffice.

and yes the hot glue method is what I will do as well in case of breakage.
