Digital to analog TV signal converter

Sun Jun 24, 2018 6:04 pm

I have an old analog TV but now the broadcasted TV signal is digital and I don't want to buy a converter. I thought I might be able to convert it with a RPi but I have no idea how. Can anyone help me??

Not going to happen, you MAY be able to purchase a digital receiver for your Pi but you'd be better of buying a settop box for your TV.

You will need a USB Digital TV Tuner for the RPi to receive the signal.

TVHeadend is the required software.

The only input on old Analogue TVs is usually Scart, therefore you are limited to the RPis Composite Output depending on Country is either PAL or NTSC.

Nice project, the cost of TV Tuner, IR Remote and a RPi would be far in excess of a Set Top Box.....
Thinking outside the box is better than burying your head in the sand...

Hi,
A Set Top Box/Converter can be more cheap that a RPi+USB Receiver.
That is you country or digital standard?

For me, on Brazil, RPi + USB receiver cost 4 times that a Set Top Box. And, most of USB receiver only support low resolution stream (1seg, 240x150).
