Problem with DIrectfb egl backend

Hi Guys,
I am trying to play directfb examples with egl backend instead of fbdev. But window based examples are not playing for me.
Below are the changes that i tried:
in /etc/directfbrc
system=egl
mode=1280x720
same applications are playing with fbdev backend. If anybody faced same issue, please share the inputs.
Any help is appreciated.
