UV Sensor recommendations.

Wed May 02, 2018 11:28 am

Has anyone used and can give feedback on UV sensors i2c preferably since they are easy to hook up.
But others if they work well.

Looking for possibly intensity , LUX if available, count maybe in 300nm to 400nm range (~ UVB & UVA)

Whats out there, I've not looked at UV before, but I have a STEM pupil wanting to look at UV and suncreams. I'm trying to make it more involved than timing how long a colour UV bead takes to become coloured. As good as that is.

I see codes ML8511 (GY-8511), VEML6070 (GY-VEML6070), Si1145 (GY1145)
any any others ?

Off to do some research see which do what.
Always good to here user experience get past the stats.

For light intensity: TSL2561
For UV: i have a VEML6070, and it's quite good, but it has no UV index output an it senses only UVA
but i know there's a veml6075 out there (i did not try it) that also senses UVB

I prefer this over the SI1145 since what you sense depends heavily on where you put the sensor. I put it in a old light bulb, but it's cutting something like 40% of radiation, so i have to offset the readings. So with veml you can use the raw unitless output to build, in the program, your UVindex scale.

Lux sensor http://ams.com/eng/Products/Light-Senso ... s/TSL45315
Looking at the datasheet for spectral response,
That's a Visible sensor, not UV, so not much use just measuring visible lux with no UV detail.
