USB WiFi adapter powered by the Pi

Thu Oct 25, 2012 6:51 pm

Does anyone know of a USB WiFi adapter that works reliably powered from the Pi? I am intending it be the only USB device attached to the Pi. It is for a new Pi without the polyfuses if that helps.

Thanks

Andrew.

I use an Edimax 7811 in my Pi with no problems. Less than £10 from Amazon.

Yep, Edimax one works brilliantly. You need a decent power supply though, go for a 1amp one.

I currently don't know the manufacture insight, but i use the WLAN dongle from my toshiba LED TV, which works out-of-the-box.

I think, most of TV USB WLAN dongle will work.
