Booting from PiDrive using existing Raspbian image

Sat Apr 07, 2018 8:49 pm

Hi

I have a PiDrive external USB drive which I'd like to boot my Pi 3 from. After much Googling etc, I've modified the settings on the Pi so it can boot from USB.

My Raspbian's release date is Sep 2016, so I believe it's not just a case of now copying the image from the SD card and writing it to the PiDrive (which is the case for releases after mid-2017) and then booting the Pi from it.

I'd like to keep the image and not start from scratch.

I've found instructions here which may be the answer - https://www.digikey.be/en/maker/blogs/b ... i-from-usb

Is there an easier way to achieve this though?

Thanks.
