my name is Dennis and i want to start programming again. I used C++ und java a little bit about 10 years ago, but i really forgot almost everything. I have basic Unix skills and good general "computer knowledge". I'm absolutely new to electronics itself but i'm fascinated by the raspberry pi.
I just ordered one but i'm not entirely sure what to do next. First i want to play around a bit, freshing up my unix skills and later i want to use it to learn how to program. I'm especially interested in learning how to program and use external things (Motor, Sensors.... robot stuff
So i was wondering how best to get started. From what i read the GPIO is kind of risky to use because its absolutely unprotected. Is the Gertboard sth. i should look for (i thinks its not order-able atm). I don't know anything about circuits e.g. yet... so that's another thing to learn about.
Can someone help me to find the right way to get started in a fun way?
What can i get apart from the rbpi to get startet?
