Is removing PCmanFM a good idea?

Tue Mar 13, 2018 10:37 am

Hi,
I installed Thunar as filemanager because I like the side-panel and general appearance better. So I thought about removing pcmanfm, but I see that then lxde* lxde-core* pcmanfm* raspberrypi-ui-mods would also be removed. Besides, I think desktop-management and menu are also somehow connected to pcmanfm.
Will get in (big) trouble by removing pcmanfm?
Would I miss a desktop-manager and menu and all that?

Thanks for any input

No, it's not a good idea. The desktop icons are handled by pcmanfm as well. Removing ui-mods, will mess up themes and other settings.

If you want to try it, take a backup of the card first. Then you can see exactly what happens and whether the lost functionality affects and how you can work around it.
