A GUI player for MP3s?

Sun Oct 21, 2012 5:50 pm

I got a command line player for Raspberry but what about X-window? Is Raspberry even powerful enough.

You can always install VLC player as well (even if it is a little overkill for playing music). It takes some seconds to start but after that, it runs very well for music and provides an interface that is familiar and usable to most. :)

Yes, it's just

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install vlc
to install it. Works from both the command line and in the GUI. As said above, though, it only works for music on the Pi at the moment.

I use qmmp normally.
Light winamp clone, though I haven't tried using it on the Pi yet.

Installed the program. It works great and not slow or any other problem (with mp3). Thank you.

Hi,

I have compiled my application to the raspberry pi (using Lazarus) and you can download it @ http://www.zittergie.be/download/MusicBrowserPi.zip and follow the development @ https://freecode.com/projects/xix-music-player

You need to install the BASS libraries (included in the archive) and you need an armhf distro (eg Raspbian)

You can add several folders in the watchlist. You can navigate your music on artist or album.
Easy to search songs & create playlists.

Because of too little time, development is slow :(

Since the default X is lxde I would second lxmusic. I could not figure out how to add internet radio URL's to a playlist when I tried it earlier (they would just disappear) and volume control was X'd out. But after also installing xmms2-plugin-all, volume control works and so do internet radio URL's.

How did you set it up?
Can't get any sound (hdmi) what so ever with lxmusic. =/
