Current Farnell Delivery Time

I was wondering how Farnell are doing. I ordered on 1 October and delivery time was stated to be 3 weeks so they are not late yet but a month or so back it seemed people were getting them within days of placing an order.Anyone had a recent delivery (in the UK) from Farnell and if so when did you order?

Actually you are probably better off if they have not yet shipped your Pi, as starting today all orders that will now be shipped are getting a 512MB model instead of the 256MB model that was originally ordered.

It seems the foundation decided to hold back stock to make a big bang of the 512MB release. Now that is done hopefully deliveries should be pretty quick.

If you really need one ASAP it seems CPC have stock at the moment.

The foundation does not have ANY stock as they do not make or sll the Pi themselves.

You may be right in that the distributors did something like this. It is not at all unusual for manufacturers to build up a stock do a replacement model while clearing inventory of the old stock. Then on launch/announcement day they are in a position to make a large number of immediate shipments. That is just a fact of life.

However the Foundation does care about when things are released.... as evidenced by their removing postings showing the Rev2 boards before the "announcement".

The Foundation announced the 512MB boards officially today
http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/2180
Whether or not that was planned or they were forced to announce it today is unknown.

I got notification via email from Element14 that the 512mb boards were in stock and ready to ship this morning via an advertised email blast they send out. I'm sure there was some coordination going on.

IF you know you can get a better memory board for the same price before the older lesser memory boards are sold... you will have a hard time selling the older memory boards.

If you ordered some Raspberry Pi yesterday from Farnell in Germany, please check your invoice.
The price the had yesterday was Eur 38,69 ex VAT ("MwSt"), today its Eur 29,03.

Please contact sales at Farnell for correction of your invoice.

I'd buy a 2nd hand one for £15 :)

As no one else seems to have done so, I will answer your original question. It's amazing how quickly this forum goes off topic.

I ordered in the UK from Farnell on the 6th Oct. It was dispatched on the 12th and received it on the 15th.(would have been quicker but the weekend got in the way)

I ordered one of the new 512MB models yesterday from Farnell/Element14, and the email I got confirming the order says I should expect delivery next week.

I ordered mine on the 2nd Oct.
I have sent them email on the 11th Oct asking do they know when will it be dispatched.
Next day I received email from Farnell that my order should be shipped on the 15th Oct but haven't got any confirmation email as yet....

Little bit disappointed with Farnell now.

Interesting. I ordered mine on 26th Sep and haven't received any update or delivery information yet, only the "your order has been received" mail on the same day

I placed my order through Element14 (Part of Farnell, iirc) on 4 October.

Was told they would receive a new shipment at the beginning of November.

I heard about the 512MB version being released so I called them and spoke to Nick.

I asked him twice to check to see if I was going to receive the 512MB version.

Nick stated emphatically there is no way I was receiving the 512MB version and that, if I wanted one, I "had" to cancel the order and order SKU 43W5302.

He then cancelled my order because the original SKU was "discontinued"

4 hours later I received notification that I would be receiving the updated 512MB version.

I emailed them to ask WTF was going on and if I was going to receive the 512MB or if the order was cancelled.

No response.

Not a happy camper right now...not at all...

Thanks G4eml - that is the sort of information I was looking for. As it happens, I got an email this afternoon to say it been shipped. :D Odd though that they don't seem to despatching according to when the order was placed. That irritates people.

Ordered 14th Oct at 22:54, order shipped email 16th Oct at 11:14, delivered today 17th Oct.

That's encouraged me to buy any future RPis from Farnell.

Also, this Made in the UK one has components similar to my original Made in Wales by Sony RPi, pale blue audio socket and plain top to network socket, unlike the 512MB RS RPi photo posted at http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 77#p195777

I've just been told they are out of stock until 'early Nov', having ordered on the 9th Oct - not sure how some people are receiving them in 2-3 days :?

Ok, I wrote a mail to Farnell asking why my order from Sep 26th hasn't shipped yet.
Somehow I expected shipping based on the "first come first serve" principle.
Let's see.

Farnell gave a really satisfying answer :
"Your Farnell element14 Order Has Been Shipped"

:)
