Best of luck to all of the bidders, and I hope that this raises a bunch for the foundation.

You may be right.  Already up to £740 £1,000.

Edit: Nope, looks stable at near £1,000.  I dare not look at Slashdot: "£22 board really costs £1,000!"

Let's see how board #9 does

Gone up 'slightly' to £1120, great news for the project.

Yes, great news for RasPi.  I bet they'll wait to start the bidding on #9 until Eben and Liz are back from the party so they don't miss the fun.  Also, the more inebriated people get, the better the bidding, right?

If it keeps up like this the #1 board will go for more than the combined GDP of the UK and France

Both of them up on ebay are already too pricy for me.  Over $2000 usd is definatly a supprise I hope it is a legit buyer.  I figured about $200 was the most one of them was going to go for, glad to see some money comming in for the foundation.

The latest one certainly appears to be legit - this is not the start to 2012 I was anticipating, but it's a *very nice* way to bring in the new year.

#10 bids much higher than #9, if this trend keeps up serial #01 (normally the most valuable is lowest number) will be selling for an (almost) reasonable price.

We expect #10 to go for more money than most of the single digit ones - people really like round numbers!

I thought I was going to have a small chance at one of these boards but they have all quickly shot past my budget.

At those prices, will these be the Damien Hirst signed ones?

Board #10 has just gone past the £2000 barrier. Absolutely dumbfounded.

Just wondering how much you had in mind that you thought they might go for?

You might look at this as investor confidence. How well other people think your project will do and what sort of a footprint it will leave behind. Imagine getting one of the first 10 ipods ever made. The people bidding are taking a gamble on how successful they think you will be.

Also, I think board #01 will smash £10k easily. No one will remember in 20 years that board #10 was the first ever sold. #01 has to be worth some serious money. The first ever made!

Look out for board #08. Its a lucky number in China, it may have a premium value in the Far East one day. Especially as that is the type of nation the Raspberry may well target for education.

Amazing amounts for a tiny scrap pf pcb and components that will have a market value circa 22 quid on release at the end of January, or thereabouts.  At time of posting, #10 has topped £2000 and #9 is nudging £1000.  #6 is a bit of a bargain at £595!

The amusing thing is the deathly silence at /.  Someone must have told them that the beta boards (that the Foundation said would be eBayed at the end of December) were attracting attention.

I suppose they're trying to construct some new theological argument about vaporware......

He, he, good one. But I'm rather sure they'll turn around and suddenly praise this British marble - "we told you so!". "News of the World" was a more reliable source than /. will ever become.
