Licence Keys for codecs??

Thu Nov 09, 2017 7:13 am

i purchased the codecs back in Sep 2016. Been using it fine. But yesterday ive received another email, thanking me on my licence key purchase??

Is this a bug or have my licence keys expired and i have to re-enter the licence key?

Hope someone can clarify, :)

They don't expire, they're coded for the CPU serial. With the latest bootcode/firmware, once the licence is correctly read for your system a OTP (one-time programmable) bit is set in the processor and the licence is permanently installed.

That extra email is probably a SNAFU by the RPF folks who run the licencing service.

Same for me with a key purchased in Oct 2016. Thought it was the rubbish BT Yahoo email at first but it seems like the store is sending these out. Hope it's not a sign they've been hacked and have leaked personal information :-(

We've just done some maintenance on the codec system to make things a bit saner, and there is the possibility that some keys will have been resent. Nothing to worry about.

Please note, that you will not be charged - the payment system is separate from the system that sends them out.

If you are still worried for any reason, please email admin@raspberrypi.org and we can look in to any further issues you may have.
