power over HDMI

Tue Oct 31, 2017 11:59 pm

Ok I have a little 5" screen that gets it power from the HDMI port (i believe it is HDMI pin 18) and I read on the specs for the screen its max draw is 150ma.

Does anyone know the max output current for the 5v HDMI pin (again I believe it is pin 18) for the RPi????

On the original Pis there was a BAT54 schottky diode feeding the HDMI port from the 5v rail, and that is spec'd at 200mA
The Pi B+ had a AP2331 feeding the HDMI port, which limits the current to 200mA
The Pi 2B and 3B use a RT9741C which limits the current to 700mA
The Pi zero has no protection. Possibly.

So you should be safe drawing 150mA, and, yes, pin 18 is correct.
