please can someone confirms if the current pi3 supports WIFI direct, I mean the internal built-in wifi chip ?

Yes, RPI3 works with wifi when using the Rasbian distro, & likely all other distros created to run on it. :)

It should work but you will have to make sure the computers being used have unique names, IP addresses, and MAC addresses.
